Three months ago, bushfire threatened our farm; today I’m painting our burnt, resilient, rejuvenating country.
This collection of field sketches for the Fire Into Gold series began in the bush and were later refined in the studio. Instead of sketching in books or on paper, I chose reclaimed timber and acrylics on location. Working double-sided, it quickly became clear these pieces carried a presence far beyond the average sketch. Back in the studio, I finished and refined them into true exhibition works.
