In early 2025 a bushfire came close enough to the farm that we packed the car. Three months later I went back into the burnt bush and painted it, acrylic straight onto the wood, both sides, standing in the country it was about. Back at Sailors Falls I finished them with gold leaf and wax. They're small and heavy and made to stand rather than hang, so both sides get seen.

The smallest block in the series — it sits in the palm of your hand. One side: gold trunks with black in them, red flecks through the scrub, a white cloud laid on thick over purple and blue, and the shadows going off across grey ground. The other side: a purple track bending through gold-leaf ground with red dots in it, black trunks standing close together against blue, and white cloud along the top. Signed and dated on the side.

Size: 8.5 × 10.5 × 2.5 cm — double-sided block.

Medium: Acrylic, gold leaf and wax on reclaimed timber.
